The Amelie blouse is the perfect balance of romantic charm and everyday ease. With its billowy, flowy cut and dropped full-length sleeves with fitted cuffs, this blouse is as comfortable as it is flattering. Featuring a gathered front with a button placket, a band collar, and thoughtful design details, Amelie brings a touch of French-inspired elegance to your wardrobe. Whether worn as a light cover-up for warm days or tucked into high-waisted trousers, it's a versatile staple for year-round style. View A offers a minimalistic, classic shirt design, while View B adds a romantic, vintage feel with a delicate flounce detail at the collar.
Sewing difficulty
This pattern is for experienced beginners. You’ll sew a band collar, construct a button placket, and create sleeve cuffs with a continuous bound sleeve placket. French seams are used throughout for a clean finish, but they’re optional if you prefer another seam finishing method.
Fabric suggestions
Choose a soft, lightweight woven fabric. The samples were made from various lightweight cottons around 75-100 gsm. For View B (the flounce version): Consider lightweight and soft fabrics like Indian block prints, Japanese lightweight cottons, or cotton voiles. This style also works beautifully with cotton blends, such as cotton/silk or cotton/viscose. For View A (the band collar version): You can also opt for lightweight linen or slightly heavier fabrics.
Fabric requirements
The cutting layout and fabric requirements are based on View B. The layout is designed for fabric 130 cm (51”) wide. The pieces are arranged efficiently to minimize waste, but we recommend buying a little extra fabric to account for shrinkage, print alignment, or cutting adjustments.
Metric EU34 - EU54:
View A, flounce collar: 2 m - 3.1
