The Amelie blouse is the perfect balance of romantic charm and everyday ease. With its billowy, flowy cut and dropped full-length sleeves with fitted cuffs, this blouse is as comfortable as it is flattering. Featuring a gathered front with a button placket, a band collar, and thoughtful design details, Amelie brings a touch of French-inspired elegance to your wardrobe. Ideal for any occasion, the Amelie blouse transitions seamlessly from casual to refined. Whether worn as a light cover-up for warm days or tucked into high-waisted trousers, it's a versatile staple for year-round style. View A offers a minimalistic, classic shirt design, while View B adds a romantic, vintage feel with a delicate flounce detail at the collar.

Sewing difficulty
This pattern is for experienced beginners. You’ll sew a band collar, construct a button placket, and create sleeve cuffs with a continuous bound sleeve placket. The instructions call for French seams, an elevated finish that gives your garments a professional feel. However, you’re free to use any seam finishing technique that suits your skill level.

Fabric suggestions
Choose a soft, lightweight woven fabric. The samples were made from various lightweight cottons around 75–100 gsm. For View B (the flounce version): Consider fabrics like Indian block prints, Japanese lightweight cottons, cotton voile, or similar materials. This style also works beautifully with cotton blends, such as cotton/silk or cotton/viscose. For View A (the band collar version): You can also opt for lightweight linen or slightly heavier fabrics.

Fabric requirements (for a 130 cm/51” fabric width)
Size 34: 2 meters
Size 54: 3.1 meters

Notions and tools
•  View A-B: 10 buttons, 13 mm in diameter.
•  Sewing thread. I recommend Gütermann universal 100% polyester.
•  Sharp fabric scissors or rotary cutter, pins, and ruler.
•  Fabric marking pen or tailor’s chalk.
•  Interfacing for the button placket, band collar, and cuffs.

Such a gorgeous pattern! I have two ready wear shirts that this pattern was inspired by and found the pattern to be an improvement on the fit. I made a wearable toile in a cotton voile and then hacked the pattern to make a dress with slits. Both were huge successes and I’m excited to have them in my closet. I know I will continue to make versions of this pattern.

This is such a wonderful pattern! There is so much detail in the instructions and the added tips are super helpful. I love that the pattern instructs French seams, which makes for a really lovely finish. The hacking guide at the end is such a great added bonus. This blouse is so beautiful and very versatile!
