A romantic and flowing maxi dress designed for the slow, thoughtful moments of everyday life - and the ones you’ll never forget.
The Ella Dress is one of our most beloved designs, known for its softly gathered bust, elegant lines, and graceful movement. The skirt is partially cut on the bias to create a beautiful drape, and the bodice is shaped with thoughtful construction that gives the neckline a close, flattering fit.
Choose between two bodice views: View A features the original plunging neckline, while View B offers an adjustable version with a slightly higher cut. You can also choose between three sleeve styles: long voluminous sleeves, short puff sleeves, or flutter sleeves, all with underarm gussets for ease of movement. The dress closes with an invisible zipper at the back.
Pattern difficulty
The Ella Dress is best suited for intermediate sewists. You’ll need to feel comfortable working with bias-cut pieces, drapey fabrics, and hand-finished details. Key techniques include bias binding, invisible zipper insertion, and setting in the two-part sleeve with gusset.
Fabric suggestions
Ella is designed for lightweight to midweight woven fabrics that offer both drape and a touch of structure. Ideal options include linen, cotton, and block prints. Fabrics with more fluidity, like rayon/viscose or Tencel, will create a softer silhouette.
Fabric usage
Cutting layouts are optimized for fabric 140 cm (55”) wide. We recommend purchasing a little extra to account for shrinkage or print alignment.
Metric (EU34-EU54):
