One of my most requested designs, now available as a designer sewing pattern with high quality instructions.
The Emma dress was released during my S/S2023 (dress) (top) and S/S2022 (dress) (top) slow fashion collections and was one of my best-selling garments.
The Emma dress and top is a romantic sleeveless garment with feminine details, perfect for warm summer days. The pattern comes in A-F cup sizes and features wide gathered shoulder straps, a gathered bodice with elastic channels below the bust and at the waist. The sweetheart neckline is finished with an elastic channel and a ruffle. The elastic makes the dress and top both comfortable and flattering to wear and breastfeeding friendly. View B is perfect for scrap busting as it only requires around one meter of fabric.
Size range: European sizes 34-50/UK6-UK22/US2-US22 with A-E cup size options.
Sewing difficulty: The pattern is beginner friendly. There is no zipper, the dress and top uses elastic to go over your head. You should be able to sew a channel for the neckline elastic and a bias binding for the armholes. Pockets are optional.
Fabric suggestions: Choose a lightweight woven fabric such as cotton voilé, cotton lawn or cotton poplin. My samples were made in a lightweight crinkled cotton, 85 gsm. This design also looks beautiful in a sturdier cotton, such as a cotton poplin.
Fabric usage: Dress 2.2 meter (EU34) to 2.4 meter (EU50). Top 1.05 meter (EU34) to 1.3 meter (EU50).

Pattern tester feedback:
Alina: "Another dreamy, fairy-like dress pattern by Jessica Silversaga. This is my third one of her patterns, and I just love them all. These are actually the first patterns I used multiple times to make more and different versions, because they are simply stunning."
Alyse: "As always with Silversaga Patterns I'm transported into a magical world, floating away in my pretty dress."
Bea: "This dress is so elegant and romantic! The instructions are easy to follow and it’s so comfy for summer days. As an easy to make sewing project I simply can’t wait to make more!"
Bethany: "This dress is so romantic! I love where the straps sit on the shoulders and it gives it such an elegant feel. The Emma dress is flattering, comfortable, and a wonderfully designed pattern. The instructions are detailed, as always, with helpful tips throughout to help achieve neat and professional finishes. A joy to test another Silversaga pattern"
Madalyn: "This pattern looks complex but came together quite quickly! I love the elevated details and that various cup sizes are available and already included. The finished insides are also something to swoon over!"
Kathryn: "The Emma is a lovely, delicate silhouette. It’s a quick, easy sew and Jessica’s instructions are intuitive and thorough. With multiple bust options - up to an E/F cup, lots of ease, and elastic casings throughout, Emma is very customizable to a variety of body types."
Stephanie: "The Emma dress has such a sweet silhouette that is perfect for those hot summer days. I made it in a light cotton for a fuller more structured dress, but I think it would also be absolutely stunning in a rayon or viscose. There are 4 different bust patterns for different cup sizes ranging from A-F, which makes adjustments easy to do. I made one for myself in the C cup and will be making one for my daughter in the A/B cup next. I like that the straps are wide enough to cover my bra straps, keeping me cool and modest at the same time. The instructions are detailed with lots of illustrations and I would say “advanced beginner” is an accurate difficulty description for this dress pattern. If you’re looking for a feminine and flattering summer dress, I would definitely recommend the Emma dress!"
Kirsten: "The Emma dress is universally gorgeous - every single version is ethereal and romantic. For a woven garment, there is a lot of flexibility in fitting - with elastic and lots of gathers. This is the first time I made myself a dress and both of my teenage daughters immediately requested that I make them a dress too. Gorgeous design!"
Madeleine: "The Emma is a beautiful sewing pattern. It is another classic Silversaga piece, with its airy and dreamy feel. The detail of including a wide range of bust sizes is fantastic. I've made both the dress and top version and am excited to make more for summer!"
Camille: "This pattern was a dream to work up. The end result is a stunning piece that would fit perfectly in any wardrobe! Since finishing this project I have already started my second version & plan to make many many more! I love that this piece was designed with comfort in mind with the use of elastics however maintains a very timeless and beautiful look!"
Yoanna: "Goodness, yet another beautiful dress from Silversaga Patterns! Every Silversaga dress I’ve made has been so flattering, comfortable and lovely. I can’t say this is my favorite because they are all my favorite in their own ways but this one is very special. I’m definitely keeping this pattern handy for future makes!"
Stephanie: "Sewing this pattern was a delightful experience. Given the number of "similar" patterns which use simpler shapes and techniques (like shirring), I was curious to see whether all the detail here would be worth it. It absolutely was - you can really see how the sophisticated shaping and fine finishing techniques make for a very elevated garment. This project taught me some new techniques, and even as a more advanced sewer, I was genuinely surprised at how high-end the finished top looks. Highly recommend!"
Sandy: "The Emma dress is a romantic design, with ruffles and wide straps which makes it a beautiful summer dress to float around in. The elastic channels accentuate your curves at the right level. I love all the other styles that Jess has released!"
Hendrike: "I recently used the Emma pattern, and I'm delighted with the results! The instructions were clear and easy to follow, making the sewing process enjoyable. The fit is perfect, especially around the armholes and bust. I loved the flexibility to adjust the elastics and peplum length to my preference. Overall, the Emma pattern is fantastic and highly recommended for anyone looking to create a stylish, well-fitting garment. Thank you to Jessica for such a wonderful pattern!"
Pia: "The Emma dress is yet another perfect pattern for a romantic Summer dress. The instructions make it very easy to create a one of a kind dress. The finished dress is also perfect for pregnancy and breastfeeding!"
Melissa: "I adore the Emma Dress pattern so much! The style is simple but timeless and I feel so gorgeous in it. I love how quickly a very beautiful, fitted dress can be made with this pattern. I thought it was so clever how the elastic channels are formed; genius drafting. Like Jessica’s other patterns, the instructions gently guide you through the sewing process and it is an enjoyable sew. Would recommend all of the Silversaga sewing patterns."
Rebecca: "The Emma dress is a pleasure to sew and lovely to wear! This pattern is beautifully designed and it's clear Jessica has put so much thought into every detail of this dress."
Christina: "I love this pattern! I consider myself an advanced beginner and I found that this pattern challenged me and taught me some new techniques. I’m in love with the neckline and the straps on this pattern and I already have some ideas for new versions. I made the dress version with a crisp cotton poplin and I love how it turned out. It’s comfortable and easy to throw on because of the elastic. I love that there’s no zipper!"
Ganit: "I enjoyed making this beautiful dress! I find it true to size, and very easy to fit. Definitely plan to make many more!"
Kelly: "This wonderful dress pattern is completely on brand for Silversaga. It is so dreamy, with the most beautiful sleeve straps. I think it is a great pattern for adventurous beginners to be introduced to some new techniques that results in a beautiful lightweight dress. I would highly recommend doing a toilé before you cut your final fabric to ensure the under bust and waist lines are appropriately suited for your body."
Karen: "I really really really love this pattern so much! Such an easy pattern, lovely and detailed instructions which makes you go through the whole process fluently. Love the style and final result! Definitely will be making many more!"

It’s a very approachable pattern for a beginner sewist as there are no hassles sewing zipper or button closures. Instead, it has elastic channels that make it easy to slip on and off, while also making it very comfortable to wear throughout the day."
